The HIV infected too is part of our society. Like everyone else, they too have equal rights and recognition by the community. However, this disease is making their life miserable. With love and care, they and their dependants can lead a normal life. This realization is the basis for the formation of Karunyadeepam society, involving the beneficiaries and their family members.
It is imperative for a healthy societal – Family environment to prevent HIV infection and to help bring the HIV infected persons to the social main stream.
‘Karunya Deepam Society for Care and Social Support’ is an organization dedicated to supporting families affected by HIV and those suffering from other life-threatening illnesses in the eastern region of Palakkad district—specifically within the Chittur-Thathamangalam Municipality and the 13 surrounding panchayats—with a special focus on the education of children within these families.

Objective and services

• Provide free health care and Medicine to HIV infectors.
• Ensure adequate nutrition by supplying food kits.
• Provide education assistance to their children / provide guidelines for higher education.
• Help their rehabilitation and empowerment by providing self employment opportunities.
• Organize get-togethers of families to share their difficulties and exchange thoughts.
• Assist in availing Government/ Non government benefits.
• Personal development classes and residential camp for students.
• Individual and mass counseling for the family members.
• Organize awareness campaigns with community involvement and remove misgivings.

However, the disease often sets their lives back. With adequate love and care, both they and their dependents can lead a good life. This realization formed the basis for the establishment of the Karunyadipam Society, which includes the beneficiaries and their family members. The Society’s operational area covers the 13 panchayats of the Chittur region—located in the eastern part of Palakkad district—as well as the Chittur-Thathamangalam Municipality.

Services

4. Organize family gatherings to facilitate communication and the sharing of concerns.

The objective of the Karunya Deepam Society is to realize these goals with the support of the general public, government and non-government departments, and kind-hearted individuals whose spirit of compassion never runs dry.

How To Help

Contribute a fixed annual or monthly amount towards these activities.
Sponsor the lunch for the monthly family gathering.
Please provide the rice, grains, and other items required for the nutritional kits distributed to families each month.
Sponsor notebooks, uniforms, and other study materials for their children, as well as assistance for higher education.
